Well, I am almost positive you are on a CPanel system now.

Assuming you have a complete catalog in place (including 
yourcat/etc/profiles.order, which contains the credit_card profile), Try 
stripping carriage returns from your catalog.cfg. You can do this from the 
command line. Just shell into your account, then give the following command:

perl -i -p -e 's/\r//g' catalogs/yourcat/catalog.cfg

Then log in to the UI, Apply Changes, and try an order again.
