Then, I installed the demo and looked at index.html, where I saw [control] and [control-set] tags. When I looked to the documentation to find out what they do, my heart sank. It turns out the documentation for these tags gives no clue to the uninitiated. That's just one example; the documentation in general is surprisingly sparse for a program that's been around so long.

In addition to the aforementioned sources, the following is a
documentation source geared more towards an admin user, as opposed to a
developer... and is meant to be a bit "lighter". It is somewhat aged at
this point, but still mostly relevant. It may in some cases provide
insight into the use of tags and other processes documented in more
detail elsewhere.

A lot, actually most of the documentation is written by developers
during the course of development, and as such can appear formidable. But
as you become more familiar with the system, and revisit the same
documentation 3 months from now, it will make more sense. And as Peter
mentioned, make use of as many of the resources as you can. Each has
been provided from a slightly different perspective, and in most cases
one of them will make more sense to you individually than others.

Hope that helps.
