- chmod 755 on the cgi: You did that after reading all the FAQs and problem
reports? "chmod u+s /usr/local/httpd/cgi-bin/simple" might be the first
step you want to take. You may also want to read the problem reports about
permissions again.

- SUSE 6.0: According to my information this is not intended to be a
production environment yet. It comes with quite a few experimental/new
features. YMMV.
