Regarding your trouble with the if statements. 
In most common case you get trouble, if your if structure is very deep.
In some case, MV will not parse any MV tags, if this part is comming
from the include-tags (if structure is too deep?).
In some case, you can solve this misbehavior, if you insert any
comments (html comments like <!-- Hey this is the second if
conditions-->).
Someone are able to use this kind of the codes. Anyone not!
Maybe, you can try out the error, if you use a dummy txtfile/htmlfile
without any MV tags, check it and insert the MV tags step by step?
